Planning for Effective Progression
Estyn states that effective schools “have a clear understanding of progression through their school’s curriculum, collaborate regularly with other schools and settings to deepen their understanding of progression across schools and phases and share effective approaches to teaching and assessment”.
This programme looks at how teachers can plan for and assess progress in the short term, and in their medium-term planning whilst making the progress clear and explicit to the learners. Packed with simple and practical activities, this programme will make progress simple and clear.
Course objectives:
- What does effective progress look like and how does the learner know?
- How do we plan for progression in the short term and the longer term?
- How can we develop effective medium-term planning to make progress clear to the learner?
- What strategies can we use in the class and across the school to make progress an integrated part of the learning process?
- What does good progress look like, and how does this link to effective professional dialogue?
